All This Time

All this time I wished to be with you,

Though all the while I somehow knew

You were a dream too big to be true

And so now, when my pulse, like a soft drum,

Beats my departure, telling heavens that I come

I, all with the might of my goodness say

Join my hands and make this pray

That when my grave is broken up again

For some second guest to entertain

I wish, you be my honorable guest

And so we may then forever rest

And sure, will we not be then alone;

Your bracelets of hair entangled with my bone

And someone who might just pass us by

May say that here a loving couple lie.
